Do You Believe That Your DNA Belongs To You?

Wether you are aware of it or not, there are groups within the state of MN who want to be able to take our DNA (personal genetic makeup) to use for research. They want to be able to get some of our DNA from any source: blood donations, cholesterol tests, infant blood draws, etc. And, they want to do this without our consent. Twila Brase is one of the few people standing between us and government forced genetic testing. I distribute this concern and ask you and anyone to whom you forward this too, to please take this 6 question survey.

They want to show that we average people out here do not want the government to have control over our DNA.

On the other side, there are those in the research and public health side of the issue who believe that by any of us refusing to allow use of our DNA, we are jeopardizing public safety. (IMHO, I prefer to keep my DNA to myself.)

Live Within Our Means

Our state government has failed to live within our means. Minnesota is facing a major budget deficit and lawmakers will now be forced to either cut spending or raise taxes.

In the last election, many candidates assured us that tax increases weren't on the table, only then to raise our taxes once in office. Let's not be fooled again this year by empty campaign promises.

During these difficult economic times when most of us must tighten our belts and live within our means, why can't we expect the same from our state government?
